This nature house is an 1850s farmhouse that served as a basket maker's workshop until the middle of the last century. We have completely restored it with our own hands. The usable area on the ground floor is about 60 m2. French doors give access to a spacious terrace, with a flower garden and (slightly lower down) a pond fed by a spring - you can cool your feet there. All around you have unobstructed views of a landscaped garden bordered by trees. Behind it meanders a deep stream that reaches our yard via a waterfall.On 1 level is the mezzanine with a bedroom and bathroom and a toilet. The decoration is a mixture of industrial and authentic: glass, steel, wood, concrete and natural stone. Still, we find it cozy and tasteful ourselves (of course). No frills from Blokker or Ikea, but a nice table, nice chairs, well-equipped kitchen cabinets, and drawers with cutlery and cooking tools that are useful.

The studio is at the edge of the village of Pierrefaites. You can hear the birds, the bees and the bumblebees, the waterfall, the spring, and the occasional chainsaw or tractor. It hills quite a bit here. The village still has a bakery but for real shopping you have to go to Fayl Billot which is four kilometers away. Nearby you will find sleeping towns like the fortified village of Langres (birthplace of Diderot) and Bourbonne les Bains (a spa). Dijon is an hour away, Vesoul forty-five minutes. A little further on is Ronchamp with Le Corbusier's Chapelle Notre-Dame du Haut. Highly recommended, but you come here for your rest, for the flora and fauna: birds (the hoopoe!), frogs, salamanders, dragonflies, lizards, butterflies, the large wood bee (!), wild boars, deer, foxes, squirrels and badgers. Because you want to bike or hike alone or with a loved one, laze in a hammock, stare at the stars, or read a book, or write a book. That goes very well here, too.
