The house is well insulated and equipped with 15 solar panels. In terms of energy supply it is highly self-sufficient. For heating and cooling there is an air conditioner.

Located in the Green Heart and the Dutch lakes area (Westeinder, Braassemmermeer, the Kaag, Langeraarsche Plassen, Nieuwkoopse Plassen, Vinkeveense Plassen and the Reeuwijkse Plassen). A huge water recreation area where you can cycle, walk, sail and fish. The house is located at the starting point of the Amstel river at the Tolhuis lock. This lock is especially important for recreational boating, but also for cyclists, car rallies, motorcyclists, craft routes, the peat race, rowing trips and walkers (including the Pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostella, if you start from Amsterdam). Within a radius of 30 to 40 km are the Centers of Amsterdam, Leiden, Utrecht and Gouda.
