Our green-built structure is located in the first hills of Bologna, in the locality of Carteria di Sesto, bordering the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi dell'Abbadessa. We are at the end of a dirt road that rises from about 130 meters to 180 meters, you can go up either on foot or by mountain bike, car or van. We do not have animals but can accommodate dogs without any problems, as well as even small children (we have two of them aged 8 and 5). The cottage is a 30-square-meter studio apartment with a bathroom, kitchen and double bed, an independent space with free access at any time, independent heating and air conditioning, refrigerator, washing machine and stove available. The apartment is entirely in green building, that is wood and straw, completed in 2023 with the latest technologies (heat pump, rainwater recovery system, storage batteries). Outside we have about one hectare of space with forest, compost toilet and treehouse!

We are located in the foothills of the Emilian Apennines, just a 20-minute drive from the city of Bologna. The setting is isolated from any other habitation, in the middle of a forest where roe deer, wild boar, hares, foxes and a few wolves live. Via Mater Dei, one of the best-marked hiking trails in the area, also passes through here (the route to our house is just a small part of Via Mater Dei). Children have plenty of space to run and play, while adults can relax with a barbecue or a ride on rented mountain bikes and fat bikes (we have 3 available). For nature lovers, the Gessi Bolognesi and Calanchi dell'Abbadessa Park is a true paradise of trails and viewpoints suitable for any experience level. Definitely worth visiting year-round, especially in spring when temperatures are ideal and in autumn during foliage!
