Our residence is located in Meerwijck (in Kropswolde), a neighborhood consisting of almost entirely detached houses on the edge of the Zuidlaardermeer. The houses stand on a number of artificial peninsulas constructed on the northeast side of the lake. Right next to the district lies the nature reserve Leinwijk/Wolfsbarge and pavilion De Leine and within walking/cycling distance the Meerwijck beach with beach club Vifero, several marinas and woods. One can cross the Hunze (locally called the Drentsche Diep) by bicycle ferry. In addition, a bicycle bridge has been built, providing a permanent bicycle connection to Noordlaren and Haren. With ten minutes of cycling you are in the head of Drenthe with its beautiful forests and heath. Several stores and supermarkets (1.8 km) can be found in the immediate vicinity. Distance to Zuidlaren 7 km, Haren 14 km , Groningen 15 km. Train station Kropswolde is 2.7 km away.
