Our beautiful vintage forest cottage is located in the corner of the park. The cottage has no TV but does have a record player and CD player with LPs and CDs. And also a substantial garden with a large wood-fired barrel sauna for four. At the back of the garden, a small river flows. This is how a person comes to rest. The cottage has its own entrance via the parking lot of the Rekem gymnasium (only on foot). So you do not always have to go through the barrier of the park. The vacation park has no animation rats (no Bollo the Bear or other fun) but it does have a beautiful large swimming lake that is very quiet even in summer. In fact, visitors from outside are not welcome. The bathroom with shower stall is dated but everything works and the shower is excellent. In very dry periods BBQ and open fire is strictly prohibited. The cottage is within walking distance of a large supermarket. Please note that the cottage is not solitary in a forest but on a park with neighbors including an area where police dogs sometimes train.

As nature lovers, for us the location on National Park the Hoge Kempen was one of the reasons to buy this cottage. You cycle or walk straight into the vast nature reserve. Even at the park I have spotted deer and wild boar at dusk. With a little luck you will see a shrike or a kingfisher. As a mountain bike enthusiast, you can also get to work: there are more than 100 km of trail. Less than 15 km away is Maastricht. Behind it lies the beautiful hill country. Nearby is the village of Oud Rekem: according to Belgians one of the most beautiful villages. The Meuse Valley is a few kilometers away.
