Summer weekend holidays

As you may know summer is the high season for travelling in Europe! Tourists tend to go anywhere from seaside areas to summer hikes of Montblanc, from huge metropolitan areas to the wild countryside. And while you may think that this means you will not be able to catch a break from the crowds, this is not always true. Europe has its secret places which surprisingly are not so popular among travelers, despite being incredibly interesting and beautiful!

Book your next summer weekend with nature.house and enjoy our countless accommodation options throughout the Old Continent. You can choose between bungalows, chalets, villas with private pools and even some traditional homes and unique finds such as Spanish fincas or Circus trails! Pack your stuff and head out on a weekend adventure where you will be able to get a short break from the modern world and enjoy the peace and quiet of rural Europe!

What to explore?

Although summer is the most popular season, everybody can tell you that the heat can sometimes be unbearable. You can escape the hot and humid air of cities and head for either the mountains of the northern parts of the continent. For example, Schwartzwald is a national park and a mountain range in Germany where you can easily avoid the heat. The Black Forest consists of tree and plant vegetation so dense that it serves like a blanket over the pathways and trails.

Additionally, the Nordic countries tend to enjoy a much more mild summer. Sweden will gladly welcome you in its wonderful national park – Abisko. You will be able to admire the mesmerizing high peaks of the mountain, as well as witness the unique phenomenon Midnight Sun. Especially during June, the sun never fully sets and throughout the night it is as bright as it would be in the early morning elsewhere.

On another note, some of us dream of lovely beaches, minus the crowd of course. Surprisingly, some secluded beaches are to be found in popular destinations such as Spain or Portugal. In the latter, a beach village called Salema, has a beautiful beach not as famous among visitors. The coast is very flat with amazing sand and beautiful rock formations which turn pure gold during sunset!

Summer activities

Trying to stay active, even when we are on a vacation, is important for our general health. Of course, watersports are a popular way to get your adrenaline boost while enjoying the cool water on a sunny day. Lake Annecy in France is a wonderful spot where you could admire the surrounding beauty of the French countryside. There are platforms along the lake shore where you can sunbather, or jump right in and try scuba diving, paddle boarding or wake boarding. If you are a fan of water rafting head to the Verdon river also in France – supposedly one of the best gorges for rafting in Europe.

If you have decided to run north of the summer heatwaves, check out Norway’s cycling routes and hiking trails - you will get to enjoy the Norway nature undisturbed and in perfect weather conditions. The paths are very picturesque, surrounded with trees, passing by lakes and running along rivers. Definitely consider cycling along the Coastal route which will take you through the Norwegian Fjords.
