Cottages in Murcia

Murcia is a region in Southeastern Spain, situated on the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula. This autonomous comunidad is named after the historical region of Murcia, which used to occupy the whole area of southeastern Spain before the country’s transition to democracy. The city of Murcia is the provincial capital. Murcia (the community) is famous worldwide as one of the largest fruit and vegetables producers; wine production is another important economic activity.

Book your next Spanish adventure with us! We offer cottages on some of the most beautiful places in Murcia, whether it is on the coast or inland. Tourism is an important aspect of the province’s economy and hosts have long years of experience, thus ensuring you will be met with a smile and everything you might need on your stay. The cottages provide amazing views of the areas around them where you can feel at peace with nature!

Peaceful nature on the coast

Calblanque is a regional park on the Murcian coast. The park is favorite to nature enthusiasts for the diversity of natural wonders and biospheres here. You can visit the pine woods of Aleppo or the dunes and wadis, coves and cliffs near the sea. There are also a few beaches which people tend to love, but always be respectful to the rules in this protected area! Head to Monte de las Cenizas for breathtaking views of Mar Menor and the Mediterranean.

For a more interesting landscape, head to the Almadenes – a deep river canyon. A rich biodiversity will welcome you and you will have a chance to explore the region under the sounds of an eagle owl. The canyon is located at the upper parts of the river Segura.

Near the city of Murcia there are numerous caves scattered across the Valley of Murcia. Castillo is among the more popular and resembles a small cave with a beautiful panoramic view to the valley. Moreover, you can visit the Cresta del Gallo mountain range overlooking the city. The name is translated to “rooster comb” and signifies the typical red color of the mountain rocks. Pico de Panocha is the largest monolith, while Pico del Relojero is the tallest – you can even see the Mar Menor from here, if the weather allows it.

Challenge your body

The city and region of Murcia provide numerous possibilities for a day full of activities. Terra Natura Murcia is an amazing zoo where you have a chance to interact with animals and learn a lot about their habits and their preservation!

As a third of the region is mountainous, there is a lot of hiking to do. Paseo de Malecon is a beautiful promenade following the river Segura on its right bank. Not only will you be able to admire the Murcian nature, but also be amazed by the interesting buildings along the way – houses from the beginning of the 20th century and even a monastery.

Almadenes Canyon is a popular spot for adrenaline seekers. You can go kayaking, rafting, hiking, trekking and even rock climbing there. If you are a fan of cycling, you can also rent a bike in the city and take it across all the popular tourist destinations in and just outside of Murcia.
