Cadiz is the southernmost province of Spain and covers the entire southern tip. The province has all the ingredients for a successful holiday. There is a great diversity of nature reserves to be found and along the coast there are pleasant and interesting port cities. There are beautiful coastal areas as well as beautiful mountain areas and lakes further inland. The capital of the province is the western town of Cádiz. The city centre of this place sticks out into the sea like a peninsula with a bend. Behind it lies the sheltered harbour. The city has a beautiful promenade and several sights, making it worthwhile to visit them from your holiday home.

Nature in Cadiz

From your holiday home in Cádiz you can visit many different nature reserves. Close to the city of Jerez de la Frontera lies the Laguna de Medina nature reserve. This lake is known for its special breeding birds, including knobbelmeerkoet, purple coot, marbled duck and white-headed duck. Right next to the city of Cádiz is the natural park Bahía de Cádiz, a tidal area with salt marshes and mud flats. In the east of the Cádiz region you can visit the mountainous area of Los Alcornocales from your cottage. This beautiful wooded hilly area is a beautiful location for a nice walk. Between the mountains there are several large lakes, such as the Embalse de Barbate.

From your holiday home you have countless opportunities to explore nature. You should pay attention to the many plants and animals in Cádiz. Seeing a pearl lizard or chameleon is certainly possible during a walk from your holiday home. There are many species of birds in the province. At sea, shearwaters and gannets fly. Vultures and griffon vultures are common. Rare are the rüppells vulture and the black vulture. Finally, there are many species of insects and plants to be found in Cádiz, including often spectacular species.
