Cottages South Holland

Together we contribute to local nature projects

More information

The province of South-Holland is by far the most densely populated area of the Netherlands due to its many towns and villages. Apart from the many urbanised areas, the landscape around each holiday home consists mainly of flat polder landscape, interspersed with water features such as lakes, canals and babbling rivers. Especially the Dune and Flowerbulb region is beautiful to behold because of the wide views over colourful fields.

Flora and fauna
The northwest of South-Holland is characterised by kilometres of colourful flower bulb fields where tulips, crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths are cultivated. The province's many wetlands are home to many species of birds. Some examples are the Canadian goose, grey goose, mute swan, mallard duck and magpie. Deer, hares, pheasants and rabbits are also regularly spotted!

Activities
Because of the many waterways and extensive polder areas, the province of Zuid-Holland has a large network of walking, cycling and shipping routes. Ideal for the active nature lover! In the Hollands Plassengebied, around Leiderdorp and the Kagerplassen, lovers of water sports can indulge themselves. If you are looking for fun or an evening out, you can visit one of the larger cities. Rotterdam, The Hague, Delft, Leiden or Dordrecht can be reached relatively quickly from any holiday home. Here you will find plenty of entertainment in terms of shopping, going out, visiting the theatre or eating out. And what about the typical Dutch windmill landscape at Kinderdijk? This is also worth a visit.
