Cottages in Famagusta

Cyprus is a beautiful island in the Mediterranean – one of the largest ones! It is located to the south of the Turkish coast and west of Syria. Except for its beautiful nature, this island is known for its history of human activity dating as far as 10 millennia BC! Famagusta is a city on its east coast, located near the capital Nicosia. The history of this town is remarkable and during the Middle Ages it was an important port in the Mediterranean together with Venice and Genoa.

Cyprus and the region around Famagusta are an amazing destination for nature enthusiasts! You can enjoy the landscape of this amazing island while staying in a comfortable and contemporary cottage. The cottages are situated in quiet areas where you will be able to relax and take a much needed break from the busy modern life. The cottage hosts are friendly and ready to help you if you need them or to leave you by yourself if you opt for a contactless stay.

The nature around Famagusta

The dream-like destination is where you will feel as one with the water. On the island everywhere you look around you will see the deep turquoise color of the Mediterranean waters. And the best way to explore the island is to explore its natural wonders along the coast!

Famagusta’s coastline is packed with wonderful coves, bays and beaches, lagoons and parks. One of the most unique places even in the world is Karpaz National Park. This is a protection area for wild donkeys! A sacred orthodox church called Apostolos Andreas is also located on the premises, looking over the turbulent waters of the sea.

One of the most beautiful places across the whole island is the Konnos Bay. It includes a beautiful beach with steep rocks. The whole area is very picturesque, but it often gets crowded so you better head there early if you want to reserve your spot on the soft sand. The Blue Lagoon is situated on the easternmost “tip” of the island. It is an amazing experience happening once in a lifetime to swim in the warm waters of the lagoon. You can also use the chance and rent a boat to get to it!

From the lagoon a beautiful view is opening to the sea. You can also see Cape Greco from there. Cape Greco is the easternmost point of the island and of the European Union. The area around the cape is a protected nature park with an amazing natural environment. Legends are a big part of the country’s culture and there is one stating that Cape Greco is the home of a sea monster named Ayia Napa.

Activities

If you love water, which we think you do, otherwise why would you consider visiting an island, then head to Gucver Watersports Club where you can learn to surf or windsurf in the warm waters of Cyprus.

Konnos Nature Trail is a path which begins from Konnos bay and continues for almost 2 km to reach the rugged shoreline of Cape Greco. If cycling sounds more like your thing, then you can try the Ayia Napa route – it will take you along the best beaches on the coast, many breathtaking viewpoints and historical places of interest!
