A dream came true when we bought this residential farmhouse three years ago. To let visitors enjoy this beautiful place with us, we decided this spring 2019 to build two cozy guesthouses. If you like cycling you can use the church paths around Zieuwent. You will find the peace and quiet and space to completely relax. The Achterhoek is characterized by old characteristic villages and cities, for example Bredevoort (book city), Bronkhorst, Doesburg and Zutphen. Our B & B is located just outside Zieuwent with free views over meadows, where you can spot deer, hares and many birds.

Here in Zieuwent, many church paths have been restored to their former glory, by the volunteers of the Church Paths Foundation. Today's twelve-kilometer walk is mostly along these restored narrow paths. Many church paths cross private property. At the beginning of the path, a sign, which includes some rules of conduct, often makes this clear. Soon I leave the village of two thousand inhabitants via a church path. I pass a little Maria chapel. It was given to the inhabitants of the village by people in hiding after the war. A little later, I walk along a narrow path between trees. According to the route guide, this path has been in use as a passageway for hundreds of years. Halfway along the route, work is underway to maintain the paths. Some men, volunteers from the Church Paths Foundation, are pruning branches growing across the path. A colleague of theirs is performing maintenance on one of the ponds the foundation has created along the paths.
