A cozy ruralhut with ancient natural stone walls and modern interior, with beautiful views over the Rhone valley and 25 minutes away from Valence. The cottage has been fully restored, renovated completely on the inside, and used to be a part of a farmhouse. The Les Bergerons has approximately 30 hectares of varied, landscaped grounds with meadows and chestnut groves. The buildings date from about 1200 to 1400 AD. The cottage is set in the midst of nature (fields and forests) with no neighbors in sight. There’s only a small country road leading up to it. In addition to the house of the owners there is also another house that is rented separate from this cottage. There is a 5x10 meter swimming pool with large terrace that may be used. This is fenced off according to French safety standards. The front of the house and the swimming pool offer a view of the Balcon du Rhône, the Vercors, and with very clear weather the Alps. The buildings/houses were bought by the Dutch owners to keep the peace, to gather and restore the whole, and to maintain its history. The house has a living area of 110 m². There’s an entrance into the large cozy kitchen of approximately 37 square meters with large wicker granite countertops, 5-burner stove, very large gas oven with electric grill, dishwasher, microwave, and large refrigerator with freezer. There are two dining tables and six chairs. From the kitchen you can follow the staircase down to the master bedroom (19m²) with two beds (90x200) next to each other and a large wardrobe. The room has double patio doors going outside. There’s a private bathroom next to the bedroom. In the kitchen there is an open staircase leading upstairs to a second (small) bedroom (over 6m²) with two beds (90x200, and a private bathroom. The kitchen also has a connection to the living room of 34 m² with a coffee table with four fauteuils, a high table with four chairs (to play games at for example), and a sofa bed. The sitting room has two velux windows and opening window/doors with a view overlooking the valley. There’s a private terrace opposite the front door where you can sit outside and relax.

Nature. Light. Air. Space. Rest. View. Those are the keywords for this cottage. The nearest village is Alboussière at 8 kilometers (10 minutes) where you can find a bakery, butcher, supermarket, greengrocer, post office, bank, doctor, pharmacy, service center (photocopying, internet), and a tennis court (for approx. 7 euro per hour). There is a large Auchan (open from Monday till Saturday until 22:00) roughly 25 minutes away where you can do your extensive groceries. Valence is a nice town with various boutiques and restaurants. Rides along the Rhone (Tain l’Hermitage, Tournon, Cruas, Montelimar) or to the wineries are definitely worth the effort. At a 90 minute drive away you will find the art cities such as Orange, Avignon, Nimes, and Arles. If you were heading to the north Lyon is worth a visit. Other places worth a visit would be the Safari of Peaugres or the Gorges of the Ardèche. On the highlands you can make trips to Vernoux, Lamastre, Chalencon, and other villages. But you can especially enjoy the nature and the Grand Randonnees (hiking trails). Perhaps you can even see wildlife in our neighbor’s surrounding areas, which has a large hunting ground with swine, foxes, deer, birds of prey, and other animals. You drive past it as you get to the house. Good footwear is recommend to walk around the cottage (in the meadows and forests).
