Bremen holidays

The city of Bremen, together with its seaport exclave Bremenhave, form the smallest and least populous state in Germany, despite the city being one of the largest in the country. The city and its port are located on the river Weser, where it pours into the North Sea.

If you want to experience the feel of old German culture with its unique cuisine, traditions, and distinctive architecture, then Bremen is the place to be. A holiday in this beautiful German town will provide an authentic representation of the life of Germans nowadays and will teach you a lot about the “German way of thinking”.

Picturesque German Nature

The city part of Bremen is the most popular nature spot within the city. This area is bursting with vegetation and is an amazing spot for families with children. Enjoy the peace and quiet in the park area, which will make you forget that you are indeed in the center of a German city. The park was created during the 19th century and to this day is one of the most remarkable land shaft works in Germany.

The Rhododendron-Park is another remarkable botanic paradise within the city of Bremen. It includes different sections concentrating in their own field: there is an adventure field, a botanic garden, a remarkable alpineum with flowers from all around the world, a rhododendron forest, a field of azaleas, a rose garden and so much more. The park is enormous and in fact has an “older” and “newer” part, the latter being established in 2002 for the 50th year anniversary of the Rhododendron-Park.

Wallanlagen Park is a stunning windmill park not too far from the central railway station in Bremen. It is situated on the bank of a small river, which has created the perfect conditions for the thrive of flower and plant species. During the spring, this park is exceptionally beautiful and sunny. There is even a windmill restaurant which you can visit and try their great food!

Stadtwaldsee or the Forest Lake is a body of water in Bremen situated very closely to the University of Bremen. In fact, this lake is very close to the Bürgerpark we already mentioned. The north-east coast of the lake includes a nature reserve and a camping ground. The southeast coast is the one closer to the university which includes a sandy beach and a recreational area. The whole lake territory is a great place for fun activities under the sun and is also popular among local watersports enthusiasts.

Numerous bike tours are available for those among you who wish to learn the most about Bremen’s history and significance for the German economy. The Abgefahren bike tour is the most popular and will take you on an adventure through the most important sports across Bremen.

Boat tours are also available, and they will take you all the way to the point where river Weser flows into the North Sea. On this trip you will mostly hear about the architecture of the buildings as well as the importance of this river as a waterway inland from the North Sea.
