Apartments Vorarlberg

Austria is among the frequently visited tourist destinations not only in Europe, but also throughout the world. The mixture of traditional architecture, amazing nature and specific culture turns this country into a must-visit. Vorarlberg is the westernmost province of Austria – it is extremely densely populated despite (or due to) its small territory. More than 1/3 of the province is a mountainous forest, therefore there are several mountain ranges such as the Verwall.

The apartments in the region are usually part of a house or a farmhouse, or sometimes an additional guesthouse to the main house. Therefore, you get a chance to not only admire the Austrian landscape but learn more about the region and its traditions from the owners.

Austrian nature to explore and fall in love with

There is no Austrian nature without the exceptional alpine lakes. An example of lakes worth the visit are Körbersee lake and Formarinsee lake. These natural gems are regularly glorified by the locals not only for their beauty, but for their remoteness from busy Austrian cities and highways. Both lakes are very peaceful and are a great place for hikers.

Another amazing natural wonder is the Wildental valley. The Breitach river crosses the valley creating narrow and deep gorges. On its way through this area, the water has changed the landscape immensely, creating interesting forms in the rocks to its sides. For a great day trip across the valley, follow the river to the impressive raging waterfall right at the foot of the Schafalpkopf mountains.

One of the most picturesque places is the Grosses Walsertal Biosphere Park. This park is part of the Walserkamm range and provides an amazing panorama of the Western Limestone Alps. The area is mainly agricultural; however, nature preservation is the biggest priority for the local population.

Activities

A great place for exploring Austrian nature is the Gottesacker plateau in Kleinwalsertal. Taking a hike here will leave you speechless. You will find yourself surrounded by rocky limestone surface, which are remains of coral reefs and ocean life from 120 million years ago. Thousands of grooves, ridges and natural stone bridge pathways will make your hike interesting to say the least. Take the Ifen cable way to access this plateau and immerse in a breath-taking panorama before exploring it by foot.

Hiking the Verwall Protected Area is an amazing experience. This area provides diverse mountain routes through Vorarlberg, Tyrol and the Alps. The routes usually include a ride on one of the cableway stations such as the one in Sennigrat. Admire countless peaks, combs, pinnacles, and towers and if the weather allows it – lose your breath on the view from the Zamangspitze mountain peak at 2300 m.

Bregenz is an interesting town in the region which you can learn a lot about while taking the Pfander cable car. An amazing panorama of the city and lake Bodensee is at your disposal on this adventure and if the weather allows you will be able to see parts of three countries – Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Guides will happily tell you about the rich history of the region. An alpine zoo is located adjacent to the cable car station and is an especially interesting visit for families with children.
